The Little PR Company That Could: Jive Named One of Vancouver’s Biggest PR Firms
We are so excited that Jive Communications has been ranked as one of the biggest PR firms in Vancouver by Business In Vancouver. It’s not often that a small independent company (four years of age) gets ranked alongside PR legends such as Edelman, National and Hoggan & Associates. Jive was listed as the #11 PR Company in Vancouver (up four positions from #15 last year).
What’s the secret behind the success? An unparalleled team of talented publicists, media mavens, social media specialists and admin all-stars.
We couldn’t have achieved what we have in past four years without the on-going support of our incredible team. Thank you all so much for being such a key part of the Jive vision.
Onwards and upwards,
Almira Bardai and Lindsay Nahmiache (Agency Partners)

Richard Branson – sit down and watch it!
As an entrepreneur I know you are constantly bombarded by newsletters, blog posts and articles telling you how to streamline your business, how to find more clients, how to measure ROI, etc etc etc. Everyone seems to have an opinion on how you should run your business yet not all of them are successful themselves… enter Richard Branson.
I had the pleasure of meeting Richard Branson in-person last year so when I stumbled across this intimate Q&A video online with him I started to watch it… My attention span for online content normally lasts 5 minutes but this 40 minutes video held me captive the entire time. There are a few people I really admire in this world and Richard Branson is at the top of that list. If you are an entrepreneur and you want some business insight, sit down and watch this… you won’t be disappointed.
Some of the points discussed:
- What every entrepreneur needs to do in order to succeed.
- Delegation vs. Managing and Steve Jobs.
- Marketing and getting PR for a new product or service.
- Business as a source for good -- VirginUnite.com
Enjoy!
This video says it all…
The Social Media Revolution (3rd Edition) video has hit YouTube and it’s good… real good. Maybe it’s because I live, eat and breath this stuff but I definitely got goosebumps. Great resource if you need some recent stats for a presentation or just some party conversation starters…
The video says it better than I can… enjoy!
How do you get an 800lb mule up a 21 story office tower?
Call Jive Communications of course!
People often think the world of PR is all glamor and parties, I am here to debunk that myth. Jive was recently hired by Juan Valdez Coffee to do PR for its Vancouver consumer launch. What started out as a regular product launch soon turned into a whole lot more…
Juan Valdez (we’re talking the real guy from Colombia) came into town with his mule Conchita. Jive was tasked with the job of coordinating their media tour. What is regularly a simple affair turned into a hilarious episode of ‘manage that mule.’ It all started Monday morning at 5am in the underground parking lot of Pacific Centre, where the Jive team spent hours coaxing a nervous and untrusting mule into a freight elevator only to be skyrocket 21 stories up to meet journalists – a far cry from the barnyard that this animal was used to.
After some careful coaxing we had lift off… the mule was in the building… the only problem was she didn’t like the elevator ride so didn’t want to go back down! Who doesn’t want an 800lb mule stuck on the 21st floor of the TD tower in downtown…
Why ‘doing good’ is good for business
Do you ever feel like there is not enough time in the day? That no matter how much time you spend working on your business or career you can never get ahead of the emails/meetings/networking events/sales calls/etc?
If so, you are like 85% of North Americans according to a recent workplace health study. Now before you roll your eyes and say “ya, ya, I’ve heard it before – so what?” let me tell you a story that has put me back on track and taken my business (and energy) from satisfactory to rockstar status.
I was recently asked to volunteer my time to help set up a centre for children with Autism in Jamaica. Now as wonderful as that sounds when I was first approached I thought of all the reasons why I couldn’t do it – I have meetings, I need to write strategy documents, blog posts, media calls, etc, etc, etc – the list goes on. Then one day the option of saying ‘no’ was no longer available (family guilt) and the next thing I knew I was visiting autism centers in North America and speaking with teachers and trainers to find out what was required to set-up…
