Work Hard, Play Hard(er)
I’m sure everyone can relate to the feeling of being way to busy… the relentless emails that continually build up, the crowded calendar that has more red meeting blocks than clear white space and lets not even start on the dreaded to-do list. There just doesn’t seem to be enough time to get it all done…. ENTER VEGAS!
When you think of sin city you don’t exactly think of peaceful relaxation however, a recent Jive trip there was exactly the break two overworked entrepreneurs needed. After a couple nights dancing and lazy days by the pool our spirits were miraculously restored and we were ready to take on the world again. Plus, it gave us a chance to catch up outside the office and reconnect as friends (which often gets overlooked running a business).
Moral of the story: To increase productivity and build internal team dynamics take a break and connect outside the office.
Jump on the video train or perish in PR isolation
We’ve said it before and we’ll say it again… if you don’t use video in your online PR initiatives you are missing out on a gold mine of opportunity.
Recent stats say that more than 80% of North American audiences are watching video online, YouTube’s fact sheets says that 2 billion (YES, I said BILLION) videos are being watched per day and it is the second largest search engine after Google.

Visual images are captivating and people like pretty, shiny things (not just girls… guys, think about that shiny new car driving past you on the street… it makes your head turn)… we are a visual culture and like instant gratification.
Tell you what, we’ll take the video/visual challenge with you. From now on all of our blog posts will have a video or visual component and if they don’t we will offer you a free PR consultation… come on we dare you!
Google Ad Words meets its match!
The dreaded Google.
We’ve all used it, that significant little search engine we seemingly rely on for all things questionable. Think “The Wizard of Oz”. You can’t actually see who is giving you the answers, but you trust them anyway.
Companies who focus on online marketing have relied heavily on Google in the past. Not surprising considering its 65% market share. However, do not let the numbers fool you. Google accounts for less than 20% of online marketing opportunities, and even when successful, you cannot control where or how far down the line your ads will even appear.
If you are relying solely on Google for your online marketing, you are going to find yourself in trouble. The cost per click is slowly creeping up, sometimes soaring unexpectedly. You also can’t control your SEO, which is even worse. Try irritating your friends at Google, see what happens. The ad just might fall off the Web all together.
Simple solutions to avoid putting all of your eggs in the Google basket however are out there. If you are a local company, take advantage of as many local business directories as possible. Superpages.com or Yellowpages.com are great starting points. Social…
